Job Title: Assistant Commercial Accountant

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000

Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5:30pm

Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire

Our Client is rated as one of the best companies to work in the UK according to The Sunday Times List. are seeking to attract an Assistant Commercial Accountant in their Chesterfield branch.


Working directly within the Finance team, but with strong links to the sales department, this role has 3 key areas of responsibility:

* New business - responsible for working on pricing requests and tenders to achieve and drive profitability through commercial agreements.

* Existing business - produce detailed commercial reviews on existing customers as requested by the sales team / financial controller

* Management accounts - at month end the role concentrates on management accounts tasks including accruals, prepayments and variance analysis

The successful candidate:

A part qualified or qualified CIMA/ACCA candidate with excellent attention to detail, an analytical approach and the ability to communicate well at all levels of the business.


* Produce detailed commercial reviews on customers

* Complete pricing requests for the national sales managers to win new business

* Work with the sales team on tenders to ensure pricing is profitable and competitive

* Weekly forecasting and detailed gross margin analysis by customer

* Maintain the integrity of the pricing rules on the business systems

* Update and maintain standard costs to ensure they reflect current purchase patterns

* Update and maintain pricing models and retail price lists

* Produce and review monthly management accounts including accruals, prepayments and variance analysis

* Monthly reconciliation of Sales VAT queries for completion of the quarterly VAT return

* Preparation of annual budgets


* Part or Fully Qualified CIMA / ACCA

* Ability to work to month end deadlines

* Ability to prioritise workload particularly around month end

* Pricing / Costing experience

* Strong Microsoft Excel skills - SUMIFs / VLOOKUPS / Pivot Tables


* Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV

* Knowledge of Metrix FSM

* Advanced Microsoft Excel including macros

* Experience in a commercial role
