Assistant Accountant

My client based in Luton is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their team on a permanent full time bases.

Responsible for the efforts and results of the financial department. Reporting to the Assistant Finance Director in regards to all financial and accounting activities. Completing clerical and accounting tasks, preparing budgets, maintaining reports, and completing bookkeeping and accounting duties for the company.

• Completing financial reports on a regular basis and providing information to the finance team

• Completing bank reconciliations and verifying bank transactions

• Entering financial information into appropriate software programs

• Managing company ledgers

• Processing business expenses

• Verifying balances in account books and rectifying discrepancies

• Managing day-to-day transactions

• Recording office expenditures and ensuring these expenses are within the set budget

• Assisting the finance department and senior accounting staff members with various tasks, including preparing budgets, records, and statements

• Posting daily receipts

• Completing year-end analysis

• Reporting on debtors and creditors

• Handling accruals and prepayments

• Encoding accounting entries for data processing

• Sorting financial documents and posting them to the proper accounts

• Reviewing computer reports for accuracy and meticulously tracing errors back to their source

• Resolving errors in financial reports and correcting faulty reporting methods

• Assisting with payroll where necessary

• Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing

• Assisting with budgets

• Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported

• Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations

• Report to the Assistant Finance Director with timely and accurate financial information

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
