Senior Accountant & Assistant Finance Manager FLSA: Exempt Location: Cumberland, Rhode Island J. H. Lynch & Sons, Inc. ("Lynch") is looking for a dynamic, and detail–oriented individual to join our team as a Senior Accountant and Assistant Finance Manager. Responsibilities include all aspects of financial accounting and fiscal management of the company. This position includes oversight and production of monthly financials, data processing, financial analysis, completing or assisting with tax preparation (sales, payroll and income), annual budgeting and report generation, and oversight of a nine member accounting team. This is a key leadership role within the company and requires someone comfortable with working within a family business/culture and is a true team player. Qualifications: • Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or MBA preferred • A minimum of seven years of experience in an accounting role • Outstanding communication and organizational skills • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, vendors, auditors and outside reporting entities (bank and bonding company) • Human resource background and knowledge of payroll systems Experienced with GAAP requirements and reporting • Generally familiar with cash management tools and applications • Construction accounting knowledge a plus • Financial modeling background helpful • Experience with multiple accounting entities and inter–company activity • Willingness to adapt/learn existing accounting systems and procedures • Command of Microsoft Excel Skills and Abilities: • Well organized with good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills • Analytical thinker • Strong decision–making skills • Work effectively with staff and vendors • Work independently and as a team • Organize tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks • Demonstrate good judgment and good problem–solving skills, be solutions oriented • Respond appropriately to evaluation and changes in the work setting Responsibilities: • Prepare and maintain cash flow analyses as needed • Analyze monthly financial statements (balance sheet, income statement and effectively convey analysis to staff as requested • Oversee/complete year–end books prior to audit • Oversee/reconcile/monitor bank accounts Oversee/assist in reconciling all balance sheet and income statement accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis consistent with monthly closing schedule. • Oversee/process payroll and attending reports for all the organization • Oversee/process sales tax returns for all organizations • Supervise all accounting staff and accounting applications (receivables, payables, payroll, equipment and fixed asset accounting, construction accounting) and human resource management.
