This family–owned–and–operated $100M+ privately held manufacturing company is looking to add to its accounting team. This position will need solid organizational, communication, problem–solving and research abilities to assist the controller with costing, variances, and inventory solutions.Essential Functions Analyze manufacturing operations, equipment availability, and utilization. Assist in calculating and implementing cost standards for materials, labor and overhead. Perform life cycle cost–benefit analysis. Prepare production, labor, and variance monthly journal entries. Maintain fixed asset schedules and prepare monthly depreciation schedules. Maintain fixed asset documentation in corporate reporting software. Assist in preparation of budgets and business plan. Monitor and analyze monthly and quarterly results against budgeted cost standards. Prepare cost of goods sold and affiliated production reports. Assist in the analysis of manufacturing, operation costs, and variances. Identify potential efficiencies and cost savings. Investigate and explain variances. Analysis of recorded materials, labor, and overhead/burden. Work in conjunction with plant management to investigate cost issues and develop reporting that allows visibility to actual performance relative to budget and forecast. Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products. Aid with the month end close of the General Ledger. Assist with annual audit preparation Assist in the coordination of physical inventory counts and cycle counts. Investigate cycle counting variances, reconcile discrepancies, and resolve issues. Works on special projects as necessary. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance related field. Minimum of two years of cost accounting in a manufacturing environment. Must have a strong cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills along with a sound understanding of accounting principles. Excellent written and verbal skills. Advanced knowledge of Excel. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems is a plus. Must be a team player, innovative thinker and possess a high level of attention to detail Demonstrated ability to adapt to a fast–pace and ever–changing work environment
