City of London General counsel and risk acts as our internal legal services team, ensuring that we fulfil all our governance, regulatory and risk management obligations. General counsel and risk deals with regulatory and policy compliance, as well as supporting the board and managing the firm's insurance matters. It also sets out our terms of engagement, working to eliminate and avoid conflicts of interest. By setting out standards for information barriers and internal controls, we ensure that our advice is not compromised in any way. Key Responsibilities: Works with the Group Head of Internal Audit Head to enable an ongoing programme of internal auditsWorks closely with external co-source partners in the planning and delivery of internal audit fieldwork and reporting.Responsible for day-to-day management of the co-source arrangement. Where required working with the Group Head of Internal Audit to recruit other members of the teamInterviewing and working with people at all levels of the firm in the context of internal audits.The small size of the team will also necessitate a willingness to perform actual internal audit field work both in London and also in International offices.Ensuring adequate follow up work on recommendations arising from previous reviewsAd hoc projects or reviews that may be required in response to issues or concerns raised within the firmWorking with the Group Head of Internal Audit, ensuring regular reporting to the Risk Management and Audit Committee (RMAC).Coordinating efforts to ensure global compliance with the firm's Financial Discipline requirements Skills and Experience: Professional accounting and/or internal audit qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, IIA) or equivalent relevant qualification. Internal audit experience, preferably in international businesses.Supervisory experience, at least in the context of small teams or an internal audit co-source arrangement.Previous experience in the legal environment/partnership or professional services is preferable but would consider other industry experienceAwareness of Solicitors Accounts rules is desirable but not essential.Self-motivated with an ability to work independently as well as in teams.Good understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPointLanguages relevant to the firm such as French, Spanish, German, Japanese and Mandarin will be considered positively but are not a requirement.
