Commercial Accountant

A Commercial Accountant is required to work on a permanent basis for our Defence client based in Basildon.

This is an opportunity to work for a large successful client of ours involved in Land & Naval Defence Electronics.

Overview of the Commercial Accountant permanent role

To provide financial control within the Sectors/IPT's within the Line of Business.

Work closely with other functions of the business, mainly project management, planning, commercial and procurement.

Key Responsibility Areas

• Recording actuals and forecasting
• Month end procedures - reconciliation, variance analysis and commentary
• Invoicing and trading plans
• Debtor management
• Working capital management
• Budget preparation, including preparation of the 5 year business plan
• Overhead reporting, including analysis of recoveries and utilisation
• Foreign currency management
• Cost Certificate preparation
• Contract Status Report (CSR) input
• Journaling and other transactional processing
• Compliance with internal policies and procedures

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

• CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified or currently studying - desirable

• On time delivery
• Accuracy of data and reports
• Continual professional development
• Feedback from the function and IPT
• Achievement of personal objectives

Experience

Accounting background

• Experience in data analysis and interpretation
• Basic knowledge of other functions and their processes
• Any qualification is fine, including AAT. With the right experience we would consider non-qualified people. By part qualified we mean someone who has started their exams rather than the officially recognised (by the associations) use of the term ' part-qualified

Reporting Lines:

This role sits within the finance team who work for our Line of Business. This team consists of a Head of Finance and a finance manager. This role reports into the finance manager.

The role is based in Basildon, Essex.
