My client, a wholly owned subsidiary of a Large Japanese Trading Company based in London are recruiting for a Finance Manager to join the team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare/review monthly/quarterly management accounts and the relevant spreadsheets (e.g. loan interest calculation, revenue calculation, hedge accounting) within limited time frame
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly consolidated financial statements for submission to Tokyo including German subsidiary and managing relations with group reporting team in Tokyo, this includes reviewing and challenging submission for group entities in line with deadlines.
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts and regulatory accounts.
  • Provide technical knowledge and support to the team on IFRS, UK FRS and Tokyo Accounting rules.
  • Liaise with HMRC, tax advisors and subsidiaries, plan and prepare for UK corporation tax return, corporation tax payments, transfer pricing documentation and SAO documentation.
  • Prepare budget in conjunction with management for submission to Tokyo.
  • Manage JSOX compliance for the Group and manage relations with Internal Audit.
  • Manage audit relations with External audit
  • Manage the accounting incl. Budgets for the Parent Company
  • Administrator for SAGE 200 and consolidation software, with support from IT department
  • Support Financial Controller managing Finance Team (and acting as deputy for Financial controller in their absence) of multinational background and liaise with other teams in the business.
  • Deal with ad-hoc issues and projects as they may arise
  • Carry out ad hoc duties which will include such items as preparing detailed reconciliations and preparing and processing journals.

There are potential opportunities for the candidate to expand the accounting technical aspects of the role over time, to provide new challenges and to expand their knowledge and experience.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

Essential:
  • Strong accounting knowledge and knowledge/practical experience of UK/IFRS accounting and UK corporation tax.
  • Advanced Excel and Power Point skills.
  • Excellent reporting and analysing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Qualified accounting professional (ACA or ACCA) - with Audit Experience in medium/large practice and significant relevant post qualification experience in either industry or practice with experience of day to day management of Audit teams whilst on assignments.
  • Ability to work under pressure and cope with tight and fixed reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to run multitask whilst being able to prioritise.
  • Accuracy and attention to details.

Desirable:
  • Knowledge of consolidation systems and/or Group reporting software such as Stravis.
  • Demonstrable experience of understanding and the practical application of relevant IFRS in a commercial situation.
  • Experience of working in SOX or JSOX controlled environment.
  • Experience of SPV management in infrastructure project (e.g. PFI /PPP type of projects)
  • Knowledge of SAGE200 accounting system.
  • Dynamic self-starter, happy to work on own initiative and pro-actively contribute to the team
  • Preferably a person who has worked in a small office or to have audited companies in such an environment.
  • This is a multicultural, multi-disciplined team of professionals,thus ability to articulate arguments clearly and concisely is highly desirable.
  • The ability to grow with the accounting technical elements of the job.
