Assistant Accountant required for our client a leading global paints and Coatings Company and a major producer of speciality chemicals, with leading market positions and brands in countries around the world. They operate in a number of important market segments ranging from buildings and infrastructure to transport, industrial and consumer goods.
As a member of the Financial accounts team the key purpose of this role is to support the European finance team by ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial data. Reduces business risk by regular review and reconciliation of bank accounts, balance sheet and suspense accounts, resolving problems and root cause analysis.
You will ensure compliance with deadlines for submission of Intrastat and VAT returns, support the Factory management team by providing regular cost analysis and help support finance team with transition to new ERP system (SAP).
Additionally you will:
* Weekly / monthly reconciliation of balance sheet and suspense accounts to identify and resolve problems.
* Monthly review and submission of VAT and Intrastat returns
* Reviews work of outsourced finance service provider to ensure accuracy e.g. manual payments, and daily FX hedging process.
* Supports the Factory management team by preparing regular cost analyses – e.g. daily production, maintenance costs, waste costs, freight costs.
* Assist with other general accounting tasks for the European business
The chosen candidate will:
* AAT qualified, or part qualified accountant. (desirable)
* Strong Microsoft excel skills, and ability to review and summarise large volumes of data. (essential)
* Experience of working with ERP systems. (essential)
* SAP experience (desirable)
* Experience of VAT and Intrastat returns (desirable)
* Able to prioritise own workload and work with multiple internal stakeholders.
* Accurate, organised and disciplined in order to achieve high quality output and to meet strict deadlines
* Experience of working with outsourced finance service providers (desirable)
