Fixed Asset & Cost Accountant (3year contract)

BD, also known as Becton Dickinson, provides pen needles for the care of Diabetes patients globally. The plant, based in Dun Laoghaire, runs 24/7 and is the Worldwide Centre of Excellence for Pen Needle Manufacturing within the BD organisation, producing 4.6 billion medical devices annually. Here we employ approximately 450 people across operations, engineering, quality and R&D.

We are now looking for an experienced Fixed Asset and Cost Accountant to join our Dun Laoghaire team on a 3-year fixed term contract.

Reporting to the Assistant Plant Controller, you will be responsible for handling elements of various reporting systems, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and in line with plant, business and corporate policies. You will maintain control of the Fixed Asset Register for Dun Laoghaire, RCI and Drogheda, reconciling the asset and depreciation values monthly to SAP.

You will have the responsibility for the standard product costing, set up bills of materials, and costing new materials.

As Fixed Asset and Cost Accountant your responsibilities are to include:

• Supports the monthly Construction in Progress spending and accounting process through the review of data in SAP and is responsible for ensuring purchasing commitments and actual invoices comply with the CB2 scope;
• Handles the monthly reporting and the periodic forecasting and budgeting of capital spending projects and the related depreciation to be recorded in SAP and moved into HFM for business and statutory accounting;
• Works as part of the team on the monthly management accounts closing process. Responsible for PPV analysis, Labour posting, analysis and reporting;
• Supports, in conjunction with the Financial Controller and Assistant Plant Controller, the annual budget and quarterly forecasting efforts;
• Provides detailed month end spend analysis, that contributes to explaining the manufacturing variances; back up for the activities of the
• Assistant Plant Controller and also participates in Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) audits Maintain the Car fleet. Managing acquisition, disposals and ongoing maintenance costs;
• Provides back up to the Payroll Administrator & Supports the Finance Team and Controller with special projects and ad hoc duties.
  

The successful candidate will be preferably qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA), coupled with a background in Manufacturing Industry.

You will handle the monthly, quarterly and yearly CSO return.

You should have

• Cost accounting experience,
• SAP knowledge,
• Excellent Excel and PC skills. Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures. Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.
  

This role requires the person to have ability to be a productive team member and work within teams outside of own financial area.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will work with other BD Irish, European and World-Wide financial community working towards integration of financial reporting systems and where possible producing greater leverage.
