FINANCIAL REPORTING ACCOUNTANT / BRIGHTON / PERMANENT / UP TO GBP45,000 + BENEFITS

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT –THE PURPOSE OF THE ROLE IS TO:

  • To produce the consolidated Annual Report and Accounts for the OneFamily Group
  • To prepare and submit tax returns accurately and within HMRC filing deadlines
  • To report in year on the consolidated OneFamily Group position
  • To contribute to technical discussion
  • Identify areas for improvement in the consolidation and tax reporting process
  • Ensure that actuarial data received is posted to the general ledger accurately and timely
  • Provide assistance as necessary to the regulatory reporting process

Key Responsibilities of the financial accountant:

  • Deliver a successful year end financial reporting process in connection with the provision of the consolidated Annual Report & Accounts.
  • Manage and own the OneFamily consolidation journals and process
  • Deliver in year consolidated financial reporting to internal deadlines
  • Contribute to technical accounting papers and updates produced by the Consolidation and Technical Reporting Manager or Group Financial Controller
  • Ensure that actuarial data received is posted to the general ledger accurately and timely
  • Prepare for review and submit the VAT Return in an accurate and timely manner
  • Prepare for review and submit the Corporation Tax Return in an accurate and timely manner
  • Prepare for review and submit the CT61 Return in an accurate and timely manner
  • Manage and own the Tax Issues Log
  • Maintain up to date documented procedures and controls to support consolidation and tax processes.
  • Provide assistance as required to the regulatory reporting process to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Identify opportunities and implement process improvements to drive efficiencies across the Financial Reporting and broader Finance function.
  • Deliver support to Finance projects as directed by the Consolidation and Technical Reporting Manager, including new UK GAAP and Solvency II requirements.
  • Work closely with Actuarial, Risk and Finance colleagues to drive practical robust solutions.
  • Other monthly and ad–hoc work as directed by the Consolidation and Technical Reporting Manager or Group Financial Controller

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Detailed understanding and working knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102 and FRS 103), current and future regulatory requirements for financial services (i.e. Solvency II)
  • Part Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA Finals) with experience in a financial reporting role.
  • Experience of consolidated accounts and financial statement preparation
  • Experience of producing VAT, Corporation Tax and CT61 Returns
  • Life Insurance/Financial Services experience.
  • Strong excel modelling skills and hands on experience with other office applications.
  • Financial reporting skills with strong understanding of financial accounting processes, including significant experience of managing ledgers.
  • Strong team player and ability to multitask.
  • Able to maintain motivation and deliver quality to tight deadlines without supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Professional, self–motivated, pro–active individual, capable of assimilating information quickly in order to be effective in a short period of time.
  • Ability to operate at all levels of the organisation.

  • Ability to implement improvements in an environment of change.
  • Experience of Dynamics 365 (an advantage)
