Principal duties and responsibilities

  • Accounting and regular reporting for a range of projects and joint ventures, including reviewing information produced by JVs or other external parties
  • Liaising with joint venture, funding partners, external auditors and attending regular project team meetings
  • Working, advising and business partnering with the internal project teams
  • Working with the real estate teams to update and maintain cash flow models and reconciliations to ledgers on a monthly basis, including calculation of development and trading gains, profit shares and bonus calculations
  • Provide input in the annual statutory reporting process managed by the Operations team, including the preparation of consolidated accounts and calculating the businesses share of JV companies
  • Responsible for development drawdowns, including equity and loan requests for development facilities and forward funded projects
  • Supervising and reviewing the work of other Project Accountants and helping to raising the productivity and performance of the Project team
  • Transactional support and managing cash in and outflows for acquisitions and disposals, together with the administration of setting up new companies
  • Taking ownership of the financial aspects of projects, reviewing trial balances for companies on a monthly basis, budgeting and responsibility for delivering the group 15–month cash flow, including cash flow and profit projections
  • Support with tax compliance, statutory and legal obligations, including VAT returns managed by the Operations team

Person Specification

In addition to the already mentioned duties, the post holder is expected to carry out any other duties reasonably expected with the general level of the post

  • Commercial real estate experience with proven post qualified experience in the real estate industry
  • Good technical accounting knowledge in respect of real estate
  • Experience of producing statutory financial statements, including working papers for consolidated accounts
  • Understanding of different corporate structures, including limited companies, limited partnerships, joint ventures and of shore structures e.g. Jersey, Luxembourg and The Netherlands
  • Extensive experience of debt and equity draw downs
  • Experience of Qube and Caseware desirable
  • Develop and support other members of the team
  • Confident with Excel and working on cash flows and appraisal models
  • Experience of working with teams outside of the Finance function
  • Highly organised, ability to prioritise, ability to work under pressure, multi–task and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a multi–functional team to ensure deadlines are met
  • Self–starter, flexible approach, prepared to work longer hours at peak times and to meet deliverables
