As a controller you will be a leading member of the advance operations (AO) team at Stryker Kiel, Germany supporting them to deliver their strategy by providing the business insight from the finance side. You closely partner with them to define targets, challenge business cases and discuss projects’ performance to determine action plans for remediation measures. The controller is a key player that will develop relationships with a variety of different stakeholders throughout the Organization.

Your main responsibilities include

  • Manage the month-end close in coordination with the divisional finance team to ensure the deliverables are on time according to the reporting calendar
  • Liaise with the shared service center to control that bookings are recorded completely, accurately and timely, including allowances, expense allocation, intercompany transactions, reclassifications, account reconciliation and depreciation, among others
  • Organize in partnership with the AO team the approval, recording and reporting of capital expenditure requests, by challenging the assumptions and gathering the necessary information for approvers to make informed decisions
  • Co-chair project review meetings with the AO team to discuss progress, anticipate needs and debrief on performance
  • Assess standard cost sheets for new products by analyzing processes, modelling scenarios and update information that will enable a streamlined production of product launches
  • Partner with divisional finance and the AO team to prepare the annual budget and the quarterly forecasts
  • Support ad-hoc projects such as systems integration, development of key performance indicators and delivery of finance training to other business partners.

Your profile

  • Proven business acumen to challenge business case assumptions
  • Highly developed emotional intelligence to manage stakeholders’ expectations
  • Ability to partner with others and build long-term relationships based on transparency and trust
  • Intellectual curiosity for exploring new topics and initiative to reach out to others
  • Strong sense of responsibility and accountability
  • Comfortable with working independently and being an active member of a regional controlling team
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
  • 5 years experience in finance or audit, accounting, controlling, financial planning and analysis in an international environment
  • Business fluent in English, German is a strong plus but not a must
  • IT-driven, working knowledge with ERP systems, reporting tools, Microsoft Excel expertise
  • Affinity and familiarity with cost accounting
