Audit Summer School - Not For Profit
Our Summer School programme provides school students with an opportunity to experience life at BDO during the summer between years 12 and 13.
Working in Audit means much more than just analysing numbers, we really get to know our clients by building close relationships with key individuals there in order to help them and their investors to better understand their financial performance, business systems, culture and the risks they face and then to provide crucial advice to them in these areas.
Our dedicated team of Not for Profit specialists are acknowledged as being the experts in delivering services to the education, social housing, charity and membership body sectors. Being one of the largest specialist Not for Profit teams in the accounting profession, we offer unrivalled client service which has been endorsed by the feedback we receive. We deliver the highest standards of audit quality and technical expertise with a focus on identifying pragmatic solutions to challenging issues.
This work–shadowing programme lasts for one week and usually starts at the end of July. It is designed for those looking to gain real business exposure. Summer School offers an exceptional opportunity to look ahead at your career options as you shadow and observe our teams and get the chance to see first–hand the kind of work you could be doing as an apprentice. It's a great way to get a taste of the firm, and potentially consider a place on our Apprenticeship programme for the following year.
You will be reimbursed for travel expenses incurred during the programme.
Business Area Overview
• The opportunity to shadow current trainees, and possibly BDO Partners and Managers
• Network with other trainees – both apprentices and graduates – through social and internal events
• Shadow team projects
• Develop an understanding of how a professional services firm operates, so you can make an informed career decision
• Using and Developing your networking skills while on the programme
• You may secure a place on our apprenticeship programme which involves working towards a professional qualification
Candidates must have, or be on course for the following grades (or international equivalent):
• Predicted to achieve 3 A Levels at grades A*– C, excluding General Studies and Extended Projects
• A*– C at GCSE in Maths & English Language
• You should be in year 12 at school or college
