Senior Accounts Assistant

A leading Glasgow independent accountancy practice currently requires a Senior Accounts Assistant to join its Business Advisory team.

The Firm

The firm is one of Scotland’s longest established larger independent firms of chartered accountants, providing a full range of services to clients including audit, accountancy and valued added, corporate and personal taxation, business advisory, corporate finance and consultancy services.

The Role

Ownership of financial accounts preparation assignments for a client base that includes small/medium sized organisations across various industry sectors including charities, farming, healthcare and retail.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Planning assignments
• Preparation of accounts for partnerships and sole traders
• Preparation of accounts for audit exempt companies and online filing
• Preparation of charity accounts
• Preparation of management accounts including reconciliation of key control accounts
• Taking ownership of assignments from planning through to completion
• Preparation of draft tax computations and online filing
• VAT return preparation
• Bookkeeping
• Provision of SAGE software training to clients
• Assist in the development and management of the department control and administration procedures
• Assist with the coaching and training of the business services trainee staff
• Any other appropriate tasks, as directed

The Person

• Appropriate experience in preparation of accounts for audit exempt, sole traders and partnerships
• Competent in the use of accounts preparation software
• Competent in the use of SAGE software
• Excellent day to day use of the Microsoft suite (eg, Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
• Experience of using cloud based accounting software packages and related automation tools
• Knowledge of preparation of charity accounts and of carrying out independent examinations of charity accounts
• Experience of preparing the accounts of farmers and retailers would be beneficial
• Qualified or Part Qualified ACCA
