Engineering Underwriter

A leading specialist Insurer has a key new opening in their Manchester office to join them as an Engineering Underwriter. You will be tasked with achieving and maintaining a profitable, well balanced and growing portfolio of engineering risks with allocated intermediaries and customers to assist in meeting long term trading objectives of the Company.

You will build and develop strong relationships with intermediaries and brokers, balancing intermediary needs with the Company's trading objective in a way that will deliver profitable and balanced trading growth. It will be within your remit to identify, define and close new business opportunities, seeking the input of other members of staff where appropriate, to ensure that business proposals are dealt with swiftly and effectively, securing new business for the Company.

As a key point of the team you will be responsible for the end-to-end handling for the allocated portfolio to deliver the agreed joint business development plans in line with the Company's overall trading strategy.

Using your extensive underwriting experience within the engineering sector you will provide technical underwriting expertise and guidance to less experienced underwriting staff. You will act as a reference point on all issues for the allocated intermediaries and customers, so that a high level of customer service is delivered.

To be considered it is essential that you have either engineering underwriting experience or construction experience with an understanding of the engineering sector and the desire to move into engineering underwriting. You will also need to have a strong work ethic and be a real team player to succeed in the role.
