Financial Comptroller DESCRIPTION The Financial Comptroller is responsible for providing financial information to guide effective decision-making and investment decisions. Summary The Financial Comptroller plans, guides and directs the financial activities of the company to ensure the efficient utilization of and accounting for the use of the company's financial resources. The majority of the person's time is spent on implementing and monitoring accounting systems, monitoring the usage of funds, providing advice and guidance as appropriate to all managers and other internal stakeholders and preparing reports and financial statements on operations and activities. All activities must be geared towards maintaining the highest level of service to both internal and external stakeholders and must conform to guidelines and standards set by the organization and to all legal, statutory and regulatory requirements. Main Duties and Responsibilities : Financial Achieves the financial objectives of the organization by developing an annual corporate budget, scheduling and monitoring expenditures, reporting on and analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions. Maintains operational efficiency by establishing financial control policies and procedures, advising on and overseeing investment policies and associated risks and ensuring compliance with established guidelines. Maintains company operations by compiling and analyzing account information and preparing asset, liability and capital account entries. Provides information to guide decision making by summarizing the financial status of the company, analyzing trends, preparing reports, advising on capital-raising strategies, recommending financial actions and makes presentations as required. Regulatory Ensures compliance with appropriate laws and regulations and provide the necessary guidance to internal stakeholders to guide actions. Security Preserves current and historical reference by developing and implementing filing, retrieval and retention systems for all payrolls, general ledger, and other documents and liaising with internal and external auditors. Maintains operational efficiency and financial security by securing financial information through database backups. Training & Development Completes operational requirements by training employees, assigning work, following up and maintaining work results by planning, monitoring and appraising results, and coaching and disciplining employees. Develops staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies. Supports the development and maintenance of a team environment by performing other related duties. Qualifications and Experience Professional Accounting Qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CMA. Post graduate qualification in Management. Seven (7) to ten (10) years' experience in a senior accounting position. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent knowledge of accounting standards and practices. Excellent knowledge of local taxation laws and regulations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to read, analyse and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, government regulations. Ability to write reports and effectively present information.
