The opportunity

As a Senior Consultant within the Technology Risk team you will work as part of a dynamic team to provide your clients with valued insights into how to effectively managed technology risks to achieve their strategic objectives. You will work with clients to build trust and confidence in their technology that supports critical financial and operational processes by assessing risks and providing assurance over key internal controls and identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of their overall internal controls environment.

Your key responsibilities

You will be responsible for leading the effective and efficient execution of fieldwork on a diverse range of technology risk engagements. You will supervise a professional team to assess technology-related risks, identify and test key controls, prepare high quality working papers and provide value-added recommendations for control enhancement through meaningful reporting. You will work closely with clients to understand and evaluate their information technology (IT) or operational technology (OT) environment, business processes and internal controls. You will also manage upward to your manager and partner to help track progress and report any emerging risks or issues on your engagement. As a team leader you will play a key role in helping junior team members grow their experience, capabilities and knowledge by effectively delegating and supervising their work.

Skills and attributes for success
  • Collaborate with other engagement team members to plan the engagement and develop work program, timelines, risk assessments, and other planning documents
  • Work with the engagement team to document the business processes dependent on IT or OT systems
  • Serve as a fieldwork team leader by directing the daily progress of fieldwork, informing supervisors of engagement status, and managing staff performance
  • Demonstrate and apply a thorough understanding of complex IT and OT systems.
  • Use knowledge of the current IT/OT environment and industry trends to identify the engagement and client service issues, and communicate this information to the engagement team and client management through written correspondence and verbal presentations
  • Demonstrate and apply strong project management skills, inspire teamwork and responsibility with engagement team members, and use current technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness of deliverables and services
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the capability to articulate technical issues and solutions to diverse audiences

To qualify for the role you must have
  • Australian citizenship and the eligibility for security clearance
  • A minimum of two years' experience working as an IT auditor or IT risk adviser for a public accounting firm, a professional services firm, or within industry
  • Experience in applying relevant technical knowledge in at least one of the following types of engagements: (a) financial statement audits; (b) internal or operational audits; (c) Systems and Organization Controls Reporting engagements; and/or (d) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) security and control reviews
  • Experience in leading teams, managing project delivery and engagement economics
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Capability to travel outside of their assigned office location at least 50% of the time, plus commute within the region (where public transportation often is not available). Successful candidates may need to work in excess of standard hours when necessary. A valid passport is required.
Ideally, you'll also have
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in business, accounting, finance, computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related discipline
  • CISA, CISM, CISSP, IIA, CPA, CA, CBCP, CIA, CIPP, CGEIT certification is desired; non-certified hires are required to become certified to be eligible for promotion to Manager
