The Technology Operations domain purpose is to provide optimised operational services so that the IT services supporting customer experiences are sustainable and reliable. We aim to make IT operations leaner and become a trusted adviser on the performance of the IT services. Our strategic vision is to improve the customer experience of the IT services by strengthening asset reliability and service continuity capabilities and uplift operational services efficiency and transparency.

Within Business Insights, our mission is to provide insights on Group Technology’s performance that support our Domains in achieving their strategic objectives.

As Business Operations Manager (Product Owner) you will enable and inspire a multi-disciplinary team by guiding them on 'what' work should be completed by the team and constantly prioritise tasks and the teams backlog - with the customer at the heart of their decision making. In this role you will ensure that the work is strategically aligned to the Tech Area mission and engage with other Product Owners to align and manage interdependencies.

What might a 'day in the life' look like
  • Create, prioritise, sequence and maintain the Product Backlog
  • Assist with the elaboration of Epics, Themes and Features into user stories that are granular enough to be achieved in a single sprint
  • Convey the vision and goals at the beginning of every Sprint and ensure the Squad remains aligned to these
  • Engage customers and stakeholders to ensure the Squad is building the right product and course corrects if needed
  • Liaise with tribe leads and other PO's to ensure the squad has the right amount of support required to succeed
  • Use metrics to ensure feedback from customers is captured as well as continually reviews product progress
  • Co-develop the squad mission with the Tribe Lead and IT Area Lead and refine the mission where required
  • Unify the squad to support the mission and its delivery
  • Re-prioritise or re-sequence any work that is not complete or ‘Done’
  • Share the progress of the squad with the wider organisation
  • Remove roadblocks and manage alignment and interdependencies with other product owners or teams/squads
