The Regional Financial Crime Compliance Associate, APAC has responsibility for the region in assisting the Regional Head of Financial Crime Unit (FCU) in maintaining the
SG Group FCU Policy standards (i.e. AML, KYC, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery Act, etc); ensuring SG Group remains regulatory compliant in all FCU related matters.

The post holder is expected to help implement policy and procedure, keep senior management informed of financial crime related matters and risks, provide expert advice to the business compliance teams, business and support functions on a day-to-day basis in a timely manner, respond to ad-hoc queries related to AML/KYC matters received by the FCU team, and participate in AML/KYC related projects as and when required.

Mission

  • Work with AML/KYC Advisory Team Manager and other AML/KYC team members to support senior management (including both local and Group level) in discharging their AML obligations, including but not limited to (i) management reporting, (ii) timely escalation of risks associated with financial crime / reputational matters, and (iii) on-going review of the adequacy and effectiveness of the financial crime control framework.
  • Liaison with Business Lines, Operational Team, Credit/Risk and other relevant departments to provide Compliance opinion in a timely manner in relation to (i) new client on-boarding, (ii) regular and trigger event review of existing clients, (iii) proposed transactions and structures, and (iv) ad-hoc queries requiring FCU Compliance advisory or guidance.
  • Perform AML/KYC risks analysis and assessment on AML/KYC related matters including the business as usual enquiries, to ensure relevant policies and procedures are adhered to, risks identified are mitigated or escalated and resolved in a timely manner, required approval are obtained and provide Compliance sign-off where required.
  • Ensure advice, guidance and approval provided by the FCU team are properly documented and kept for audit trial and record keeping purposes.
  • Work with operational team, support functions and Business Lines to implement the relevant policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Support the Regional Head of FCU in handling financial crime related matters within the region such as information sharing with the regional Compliance teams as and when required.
  • Maintain a solid knowledge of financial crime related rules and regulations; ensure up-to-date knowledge on regulatory trends, market practices and standards.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects as and when required.


Profile

Education

  • Graduate level with finance / legal or other professional qualification is required.


Past experience
  • Exposure to Financial Crime, AML and/or Compliance professional with at least 2-4 years industry experience.
Languages

  • Fluent in English.
  • Fluency in Putonghua is an advantage, but not prerequisite.
Technical skills
  • Working knowledge of global regulatory and financial services legislation as it pertains to AML, Sanctions, ABC rules relevant to the business line.
