The opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Consultant within the Internal Audit, Risk Advisory team in our Canberra office. You can be part of an innovative and dynamic team, offering a new level of excellence in Internal Audit business transformation. This role is offered on a flexible full time basis.

Your key responsibilities
  • Working on multiple Risk Services client engagement teams within the practice, you will be addressing compliance, financial and operational risk, as well as performing internal control testing, developing internal audit plans, and providing internal audit services on an outsourcing basis.
  • Assessing the client's current state internal controls and framework, you will help them to mitigate risk .
  • Collating observations, determining and agreeing resolutions and reporting on these for clients and other stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders through a balanced and open approach.
  • Working with the team and client to create plans for accomplishing engagement objectives and a strategy that complies with professional standards. You will help clients to understand and manage their business risks and verify the validity of their business information.
Skills and attributes for success
  • A minimum of 2 years + experience ideally working for a blue chip, government or professional services organisation as an Internal Auditor or Internal Audit Risk Advisor, carrying out compliance and performance focused reviews.
  • Demonstrating a thorough understanding of compliance, financial and operational risks, along with performing internal controls testing and developing internal audit plans.
  • Experience in risk assessment, mitigation and remediation, with an understanding of processes, risks and controls.
  • Experience in Internal Audit, to include compliance and performance focused reviews.
  • Experience in project managing engagements.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member, by sharing responsibility, developing and coaching junior staff, delegating to a team, providing support, maintaining communication and updating senior team members on progress.
Ideally, you'll also have
  • Exceptional communication and report writing skills.
  • Flexible professionals who are not afraid of challenges and think critically and creatively and are used to working in a dynamic environment. You will make reasonable assumptions and present thoughts in a structured, well - articulated and unambiguous manner.
  • A strong desire to develop a career in business/consulting
