The opportunity

EY's Canberra Advisory practice is looking for energetic individuals who want to join our Technology Risk team . The team work on an incredibly diverse range of work, mostly for the public sector. These engagements are often complex and challenging; working on some of the most complex problems for our clients.

You will be working with Partners who have vast consulting experience including ex-Secretaries of Commonwealth and State Agencies.

As a Consultant or Senior Consultant within the Technology Risk team you will provide clients with a candid and reliable overview of their risk landscape and the controls in place. You will work with clients to help create trust and confidence in their internal controls and reporting, provide assurance related to internal controls, assess risks and controls and provide industry/sector insights and thought leadership with a focus on risk and control matters.
Your key responsibilities

  • Identify key risk areas within the client organisation associated with IT governance, information security, systems & project change, and IT operations - and make suggestions to assist a client in managing these risks.
  • Program Assurance - including the facilitation of project definition documentation that uphold the prudency and efficiency principles and detailing scope, timing, cost, resourcing, quality and risk.
  • Supporting the execution of audits/ assessments of IT processes against leading practice IT risk and security frameworks and common standards (e.g. COBIT, ITIL, ISO 27001)
  • Participation in IT Assurance/ Internal Audit - including evaluating and designing IT controls (e.g. application & IT general controls) in support of internal audits as well as Program Assurance engagements
  • Execution of audits of IT processes against leading practice IT risk and security frameworks and common standards (e.g. COBIT, ITIL, ISO 27001/02).
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for clients and other stakeholders
  • Working effectively as a team member - providing support, maintaining communication and updating senior team members on progress
  • Ensure client deliverables are on time and to the standard expected by the client and engagement Partner/Principal.

To qualify for the role you must have
  • Australian citizenship and the eligibility for security clearance
  • Experience with a globally/nationally recognised professional services firm, government agency or large corporation in IT Audit and/or IT Risk consulting.
  • For a Consultant, we're looking for someone with c. 1 year+ experience and for a Senior Consultant, we're be looking for someone with c. 3 years+ experience of having applied relevant technical knowledge in either:
    • Financial statement audits
    • Internal or operational audits
    • ISAE/ASAE3402/ SSAE16 engagements and/or
    • Application security and controls reviews
  • A general understanding of system and risk based auditing methodologies
  • Demonstrated project management and relationship building capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
  • A relevant Bachelor's and/or Post Graduate qualification

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, IIA, CPRM, Risk & Compliance Management, PRINCE2, MPS/PMBOK, ITIL, PMO (or a willingness to pursue)
  • For Senior Consultants - experience in leading, supervising and coaching teams across multiple engagement teams and projects
