Please visit our website here for more information About Financial Control Corporate Financial control team is responsible for the timely closure of financial books for Legal entities on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Financial Control is also responsible for supporting central controls which are critical monitoring checks for ensuring the accurate legal entity reporting. Overall purpose of role Accounting Reporting and Control has the primary responsibility of ensuring the Balance Sheet integrity of trading, banking & investment products and service entities/strategic business units. Key Accountabilities Financial Control & Reporting ? Manage Business Units to achieve quality GL substantiation with relevant details on monthly close performance metrics ? Check, challenge & review of key deliverables; data bullets, margins via development of an in depth knowledge of businesses ? Create and manage action plan to resolve all year end / quarterly reporting issues identified through reporting processes and control teams ? Assist with ad-hoc projects and reporting requirements as they arise Advisory & Consultative ? Support business units providing expert help and guidance including accounting issues ? Investigate and resolve problems, issues and queries, liaising with customers, suppliers as appropriate Team Development ? Impart relevant knowledge to build strong Financial Control team ? Team player and Subject Matter Expert ? Help build a team environment via cross fertilization of knowledge and coaching of peers (including non Finance contacts) Stakeholder Management and Leadership ? Manage and develop effective relationships with Business Units, other functions in wider finance ? Liaise with key stakeholders across the business units to identify common issues, opportunities for improvements and act as a central subject matter expert ? Communicate process/reporting changes and share knowledge required to successfully implement necessary changes Decision-making and Problem Solving ? Required to provide detailed analysis and information on complex queries/problems and communicate to stakeholders on proposed solutions and recommendations ? Minimal supervisory oversight and able to perform duties with minimal or no guidance ? Able to perform good analysis, resolve problems and initiate workable innovative recommendations and solutions to take the function forward to achieve better performance efficiencies. In addition, the proposed recommendations should be good enough to be implemented by the operations/management. ? Providing innovative judgement which can be contributed as part of the decision making process Risk and Control Objective All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards Person Specification Technical Knowledge Essential: Accounting background / experience in accounting Strong academic background - 1st /2nd class honors, minimum bachelor degree from a reputable institution Qualified Accountant - CA, CPA, ACCA,CIMA,ICWA Experience Essential: Background in Finance / Banking Preferred Experience in Financial control / monitoring function or audit function Banking or Big4 experience preferred, but not essential Skills Required Essential: Strong control awareness Enthusiastic, motivated, self-starter, pro-active and team player Good IT System skills; Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communicator. Desire to provide top quality service to internal clients. Willingness and ability to take ownership of issues and manage through to a successful resolution Maintains good customer relations Team Player Diligent and expected to be a 'self-starter' Expected to take accountability/responsibility of deliverables Required to provide detailed analysis and information on complex queries/problems and communicate to stakeholders on proposed solutions and recommendations Preferred: Experience of working in SAP financial accounting Language ?
