Position Summary:

Under general direction, responsible for conducting and documenting complex financial analysis projects. Prepares financial and business related analyses and research in such areas as financial and expense performance, rate of return, depreciation, working capital, and investments. Prepares forecasts and analyzes trends in manufacturing, sales, finance, general business conditions and other related areas. Utilizing PC and/or mainframe based systems and software; compiles and prepares reports, graphs and charts of data developed. Leads the development of business policies and conducts special financial and business related studies. Leads the coordination of resources across other departments to complete the most complex financial analyses, and makes recommendations based on the results. Recommendations are made based on knowledge of Carpenter and financial analysis expertise, while considering there impact on other areas of the organization. Creates financial models of "what if" scenarios and uses them to make recommendations regarding future business planning decisions in areas such as new product development and new marketing strategies. Provides guidance/assistance to less experienced Analysts in the areas of forecasting and financial analysis. Develops financial and business reports to be used by less experienced Analysts. May be responsible for closing activities.

May specialize in either Forecasting or day–to–day support of operations.

Forecasting Duties:
  • Develops monthly and fiscal year forecasts for Manufacturing.
  • Responsible for validating data and performing reasonability checks.
  • Responsible for cost analyses, reports, metric development, forecasts, budgets, and process improvements for energy rate and consumption.

Operations Support Duties:
  • Provides daily &/or weekly cost support to Manufacturing.
  • Responsible for relaying forecast details to Manufacturing and managing monthly progress against forecast.
  • Support Manufacturing GM (Primary or Finishing) and department managers, participating in weekly staff meetings and pro–actively identifying and analyzing cost performance changes.
  • Responsible for accounting, cost analyses, reports, and month–end account balances and entries for labor spend and productivity.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.


  • 4–year college degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3–5 years experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting and financial theory
  • Advanced knowledge of financial analysis technique
  • Advanced MS Excel Skills
