We are seeking to recruit a trustee who will chair the finance committee and hold the position of treasurer of Lymphoma Action. You will play a key role in advising the board of trustees on financial strategy and management issues. You will oversee the financial affairs of the charity on behalf of the trustees and ensure that it complies with all the legal, constitutional and financial requirements and best practice.

The role involves working in partnership with the chair, trustees and senior management team to ensure sound financial planning, providing guidance over budget setting and business plans.

Ideally a qualified accountant, you will have experience of finance strategy preferably within the not-for-profit sector. We would, however, encourage applications from those with appropriate financial experience, such as finance director at board level. You’ll also have experience of chairing well-managed and inclusive meetings, making sure all members’ views are heard.

Lymphoma Action is the UK’s only charity dedicated to lymphoma, the UK’s fifth most common cancer; we have been providing expert information and wide-ranging support for over 30 years. Based in Aylesbury, we employ 31 staff and 200 volunteers, and have an annual income of £1.4m.

The board of trustees is responsible for the effective governance and overall strategic direction of the charity, working in the best interests of the charity to help us to carry out our charitable purpose.

In this role you will help us effectively manage resources; plan for the long-term as well as the short-term and stay focused on the needs of people affected by lymphoma. Being a trustee is an excellent way to develop your professional skills, improve your CV and gain real experience in strategic planning. It can be a fascinating and rewarding experience, making a valuable contribution to the charity sector.
