Finchale Group (FG) is an independent charity providing specialist services for people with multiple and complex barriers to employment. Founded in 1943 as a rehabilitation and resettlement centre for those returning from active service, FG has retained strong links with the Armed Forces.

FG supports local communities, with values underpinned by a legacy of support for those seeking to overcome challenges in finding work and a sustainable future in the community, and individuals who are hard to help but seek a structured lifestyle.

Having recently moved into a brand new facility, FG is entering a period of growth and change, and is seeking to strengthen its Board of Trustees. This exercise will form part of a succession strategy, whilst also refreshing the strategic ambitions in a new phase of development.

The Charity currently has a committed and experienced group of Trustees (who are also Company Directors as the Charity is a Company Limited by Guarantee) who are responsible for the overall strategic direction and governance of the organisation. There are currently three sub committees of the Board focusing on Audit Finance and Risk Assurance, Business Assurance, HR & Remuneration and there is a Trading company.

FG are now seeking to specifically recruit a new Board member with a finance background.

Potential candidates should have some financial or accounting qualification, experience and understanding of financial regulations and compliance, ideally but not necessarily related to the charity sector, and experience of financial analysis and budgeting.

The successful candidate will Chair the Audit, Finance and Risk Assurance Committee and will take on the role as Charity Honorary Treasurer.

The Board meets formally 4 times a year, with sub committees typically meeting 6 times. In addition, Board members are required to provide ad hoc advice, and support to management on an ongoing basis, this is anticipated to be approximately 10 days pa.

FG is committed to safeguarding and welfare of vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This is a Voluntary position. FG encourages applications regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation or age.

Applications should be made in the first instance or he can be contacted on .
