APRA oversees the banking, general insurance, life insurance, private health insurance, and most of the superannuation industry. We’re looking for professionals with relevant financial sector experience and the highest integrity to be involved in the critical role of supervising financial institutions, including some of Australia’s largest corporations.

We have a number of opportunities to come and join APRA, which could see you:

•Supervising financial institutions with particular focus on financial strength, governance and risk management

•Analysing the financial safety implications of material changes to financial institutions’ business operations, including mergers, acquisitions and divestments

•Assessing industry risks as well as specific risks such as credit, market, investment, cyber, IT and operational risks, and develop approaches to address emerging prudential risks

•Researching and developing strategies to manage emerging prudential risks

•Protecting policyholders, depositors and superannuation fund members through enforcement action where appropriate

•Reviewing and analysing prudential policies as well as articulating the economic consequences and impact of proposed reforms on competition in the industry

•Producing industry data and providing high-quality industry insights and advice to APRA’s senior executive

A curious and analytical mindset coupled with experience in identifying and assessing risks from a financial services, consulting, risk management, audit or accounting background is essential. To be successful at APRA you will demonstrate strong investigative and research skills, the ability to exercise sound judgment and creative problem solving skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with qualifications in a Finance-related discipline are highly regarded.
