Overview

In the Graduate Equity Research Program, you will work collaboratively with research analysts and traders to assist in identifying investment opportunities in the options and equity markets and gain the practical exposure needed to grow your responsibilities into an Equity Analyst. You will learn how our research analysts perform in-depth company analysis around future catalyst events and provide real-time opinions on breaking news throughout the trading day.

At SIG, we place a high value on education and development. Your first months as a Research Analyst are largely dedicated to training. You will work with a senior analyst on the coverage of their sector while taking on responsibilities that may include compiling daily news in your sector, evaluating future events, and working with traders to interpret information in the market place. You will also participate in classroom education where you will learn about options and the decision-making strategies that our traders employ. This role provides the unique opportunity to combine the quantitative aspects of finance with creative problem solving in order to develop trade ideas in a fast-paced proprietary trading environment. After your training, you will be assigned primary coverage over your own stocks on one of our trading desks.

Specific Job Duties:
  • Identifying and analysing catalyst events for the stocks or sector under coverage
  • Performing stock valuation analysis
  • Collaborating with derivative traders on investment ideas
  • Providing real-time opinions on breaking news
  • Forecasting dividends
  • Evaluating special situations such as mergers and acquisitions and other corporate actions
  • Travelling to company events and conferences as required
