Tax Consultant Job, Business Consultancy, Glasgow, £35,000 upwards + benefits & bonus

Your new company
A highly reputable consultancy business with an international presence, whose primary goal is to efficiently improve its clients' businesses, is partnered with Hays in order to recruit for a Tax Consultant to join their enterprising business. This opportunity is the result of spectacular and consistent business development, consisting of a doubling in revenue on an annual basis for the last eight years. With approximately two decades of experience, this organisation consists of a unique blend of exceptional Business Consultants, Lawyers and Tax Specialists with skills covering almost every industry. With a brilliant, dynamic and entrepreneurial culture, including regular team social events in addition to large company wide occasions situated in London, an engaged and "happy office" is of paramount importance to them. Indeed, with well-known Chartered Accountancy firms requesting their assistance in specialist cases, this is the "place to be" for tax professionals.

Your new role
As the successful applicant you will manage a portfolio of clients, investigating and identifying R&D projects, draft technical reports, and attend client meetings with key business decision makers, involving discussions across technical and complex tax compliance and planning. You will prepare and review R&D Tax Relief calculations and provide support to R&D Tax Relief claims in the event of HMRC audits and enquiries. Given each Consultant is an Account Manager, you will regularly liaise with clients, in person, via Skype, over the phone and by email. Working within a varied team, you will utilise and develop your experience in order to add value. Further to this, as a senior member of the team you will have people supervision responsibilities, including training and mentoring, in addition to representing the company at conferences and business events.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have an impressive background in UK Corporate Tax, Mixed Tax and/or dealing with R&D Tax Relief within a reputable Public Practice firm. Ideally, you will have a minimum of 2 years' experience post-qualification (ATT, CTA or equivalent). Your application will be determined by your keen interest in applying the R&D concept to a wide range of industrial sectors as well as attention to scientific and technological developments. Given the nature of the role, you will require excellent organisation, communication and IT skills, with the ability to work within a team and to your own initiative. This is an ideal opportunity for an individual wishing to further their career within a highly sought after tax specialism outwith a Chartered Accountancy firm. Given the scope of business growth, these parameters are flexible for an individual who would consider a more junior position.

What you'll get in return
You will receive a competitive salary of c. £35,000 plus depending upon experience, in addition to a generous commission scheme which results in between £15,000 and £25,000 on top of the base salary each year. Other benefits include a strong pension, life insurance (4 x salary), child care vouchers and potential profit shares. Advocating meritocracy, they offer substantial opportunities for progression, alongside market-leading R&D training to all their staff, and the opportunity to pursue or complete additional professional qualifications (ICAS, ACCA, CTA, ATT or equivalent). This is an outstanding chance to utilise and develop your tax career in a dynamic and enterprising organisation while retaining a good work-life balance. For example, operating a flexible working scheme, the successful candidate can begin their working day anytime between 8am and 10am. Further to this, as already eluded to, regular social events occur with all-expense-paid trips to London.
