Job Purpose:

We are seeking an outstanding candidate to be the Regional lead for EMEA G10 Rates Valuation Control, reporting into the G10 rates Valuation Control global lead.
The EMEA G10 rates valuation team consists of a four person team in London and an eight person team in Budapest. The team are responsible for the execution and supervision of the independent price testing controls and valuation control framework, covering the EMEA G10 rates portfolio.
The remit of the team is wide and varied and includes execution and supervision of the month end IPV process, review, analysis and reporting of the monthly price testing results, reserve methodology review and validation, review and analysis of the valuation uncertainty associated with the more unobservable parts of the portfolio, pre trade review on trades involving complex valuation considerations and leadership and execution of a number of high profile change projects.
The individual in this role will be the key point of contact for EMEA G10 rates valuation issues and will manage an extensive stakeholder network including Senior Management within Finance, Front Office and Risk Management.
This role covers a range of complex products and the individual will need to be technically adept, with prior experience in an exotic asset class. Excellent communications and negotiation skills are vital and the successful candidate needs to demonstrate an ability to communicate complex ideas concisely and effectively.
The individual will lead and participate in a number of high profile change projects and the ability to provide the team with clear strategic direction, manage projects to delivery and allocate resources between competing priorities is critical.
This is a position for an experienced, dynamic, technically-strong executive, who can manage all aspects of the role.

Job Background/context:

Valuation Control Group (VCG) is a cornerstone of the Product Control function. The function is organized into product-aligned teams including a dedicated Price Verification team. The product scope is comprehensive and includes a full range of security and derivative products.
The key responsibilities of the group are to perform the independent price verification for fair value inventory, validate methodology and calculation for market value adjustments
The successful candidate will play a critical leadership role within the Global Valuation Control team and support the G10 rates valuation control global lead.
There will be regular interaction with a wide variety of other functions within Markets and Banking globally and within the Global Product Control organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary responsibility:

  • Responsible for the execution and supervision of the valuation control framework across G10 rates Europe

  • Active role as part of the broader regional and global product control team

  • Responsible for providing the team with clear strategic direction, providing clear prioritization and successfully balancing adaptability to changing circumstances, with ensuring that long term targets and priorities are met is critical.

Regulatory:

  • Responsible for managing the relationship with key external stakeholders including regulators and auditors.

Control Framework:

  • Responsible for defining, developing, executing and supervising a robust practical control framework.

The successful candidate will be required to play a key role within the Global Product Control organization, by demonstrating a wide range of skills and the ability to develop and support Citi's global approach to Valuation Control, and the wider control environment.



Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Extensive years of experience in a technical valuation, risk or product control related discipline.

  • Strong understanding of current global accounting and regulatory developments pertaining to valuation of financial instruments

  • Ability to understand complex concepts and effectively challenge peers in Finance, Risk and the Business
