Year End Accountant
An interesting new opening has arisen for an experienced, technically strong accountant to join a local authority to manage and coordinate the production of year–end statutory accounts.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, you will be responsible for the day–to–day management of a team of accountants, allocating work effectively and ensuring deadlines and performance objectives are met as the organisation works toward year end. This will include managing and developing the production of the statutory financial reporting of the council and the subsequent management of the audit liaison process. In a broader context, the organisation is undergoing a period of change and so the role will offer the chance to contribute the transformation of the department and the streamlining of processes. In doing so, there will be regular meetings with senior management and liaison with various finance & non–finance departments across the organisation and beyond.
You should be a qualified accountant with detailed knowledge of the technical and strategic framework within which local government operates. In particular, experience in producing the year end–accounts for a local authority, with a strong track record of successfully managing a team of accountants would be very helpful. As a wide range of liaison across the organisation is required, strong communication skills and the ability to rapidly form effective working relationships is important.
This role is likely to be busy straight away but, as a result, should be very rewarding and give you the opportunity to strengthen your CV.
