The role

The position of Treasury and Banking Manager will present the opportunity to perform a key strategic role working within a well-established and talented finance function. You will be responsible for the banking and treasury function. You will work closely with the finance team to deliver efficient and effective banking transaction services.

You will be involved in but not restricted to the following duties:
  • Manage and supervise the work of the banking team.
  • Direct line management for one member of staff and support them in training, coaching and developing their staff
  • Supervise the month end process for treasury management and ensure timely processing before finance system closedown.
  • Supervise the reconciliation of bank and balance sheet accounts and the investigation and resolution of any differences in line with timetables.
  • Supervise cash flow forecasting across multiple bank accounts.
  • Ensure sufficient cash balances are in place to allow for payment runs and liaise with finance team as required
  • Supervise day to day operations including the posting of journals and maintenance of accounting records.
  • Develop banking and cash management policies and guidance.
  • Supervise, evaluate and challenge financial information, monitor deadlines and work with key contacts to improve processes for cash handling across the function
  • Approve payments, including Cheques, manual (via Bankline) and BACS
  • Manage banking and payment systems
  • Provide advice, support and guidance to staff on banking services.
  • Represent the organisation at relevant stakeholder meetings, including relationship management with banks.
  • Ensure banking/treasury finance guidance documents are accurate, up to date and are in line with best practice.
  • Review existing processes and procedures and make improvement recommendations
  • Provide cover for the Senior Finance Manager and/or the Finance Manager as required

To be considered for this opportunity you must have the following attributes:
  • Experience of supervising others including developing, mentoring and improving team performance
  • An ability to plan, prioritise and monitor team workloads
  • Treasury or banking experience working within an accounting team including supervising bank reconciliations
  • Have or be willing to work towards a formal accountancy qualification
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Experience of improving processes/procedures in a finance team
