An experienced Accounts Assistant is required by an international manufacturing company based in Bellshill.
The Company
This rapidly-expanding, private equity backed company have been going through a transition in recent years following an acquisition and the resultant growth has created a requirement for this position within the Bellshill office. The company manufactures and distributes their products over a large region with a particular focus on Europe, North America and Southern Africa.
Over the years, the business has maintained a low staff turnover, in part down to the culture within the team and their dedication to ensuring a happy and collaborative workplace.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for transaction processing and reporting for your allocated divisions / regions. Coupled with the support of the manager and the rest of the team, you will have some autonomy to improve processes in some aspects of your role, and you will be seen as a specialist who constantly challenges yourself to maintain up-to-date knowledge.

Responsibilities
- Assisting the Finance Manager and Management Accountant with month end routine including:
- control account reconciliations
- monthly journals
- prepayments
- accruals
- Maintaining accuracy when generating daily sales invoices and investigating any anomalies
- Recording daily banking transactions and performing reconciliations
- Preparing quarterly or bi-monthly VAT returns (depending on allocated regions)
- Support/provide cover for other areas of department including purchase ledger, credit control or payroll as required
- Prepare and submit monthly EC Sales List and Intrastat returns. It is expected that you will become the subject matter expert on this and will be in a position to advise the team on changes in legislation

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following experience:
- Experience of a similar role is essential
- You must have a good working knowledge of UK VAT. Exposure to international tax obligations would be hugely beneficial
- Experience of Intrastat returns, and EC Sales List will be essential
- Good general IT skills will be required. Ideally, you will have had exposure to Opera, ADP and SAP
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel would be hugely beneficial, particularly Pivot Tables, formulas, V-Lookups etc
