• Preparation of annual statutory accounts in line with accounting standards, encompassing any new accounting frameworks and/or standards
• Ensure complete and accurate posting of transactions to the general ledger and the related accounting systems.
• Responsible for production of monthly financial accounts.
• Manage and motivate qualified / part qualified accountants.
• Ensure operation of agreed financial controls including all relevant reconciliations
• Produce information for tax, actuarial, statutory and regulatory reporting.
• Maintain a level of professional competence by keeping up to date with reporting standards development covering IFRS and UKGAAP.
• Ensure compliance with policies, processes and regulations
• Ensure SLA measurements are reliable and appropriate
• Drive process improvement initiatives
• First point of contact with auditors on Financial Information.
• Set KPIs for team members and manage their performance
• To demonstrate a positive risk, compliance and control culture through the identification, assessment, monitoring and management of risks and issues within the business area, alongside ensuring timely and appropriate resolution of control weaknesses, actions and failures that arise .
• Strong communication skills, both oral & written
• Ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation & externally.
• Relationship development and management at all levels
• Excellent knowledge of Excel (Advanced excel) and Peoplesoft
• Technical accounting knowledge, IFRS.
• Ability to monitor a SOX compliant control process.
• Problem Solving and Decision Making Skills
• Time Management and Workload Planning Skills
• Good interpersonal skills.
