Role Summary:

The Global Finance Centre of Baker Hughes a GE company (BHGE) is based in our Kuala Lumpur office in Malaysia. This Indirect Tax Lead role will be managing a group of professionals supporting the Indirect tax function (Debit Tax, Fuel Tax, Income Tax WHT, Municipal Tax, State Tax, Tax Books, Tax Obligations, VAT/GST, IPI, PIS/ COFINS, ICMS, ISS and any other country specific taxes) for the Latin America Region (LATAM).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Global Finance Center Indirect Tax Manager, manage the Indirect Tax function in KL, Malaysia for a number of LATAM countries e.g. Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, Chile, Ecuador etc.
  • Review and approve Indirect Tax filings for various taxes and monthly deductions in the LATAM region
  • Review and approve various Indirect Tax calculations and payment requests for countries within the Latin America Region
  • Review and approve annual Indirect Tax filings as required
  • Liaise with external advisor and or the local tax authorities to ensure all tax rate changes are implemented and all tax audits are addressed timely.
  • Be a focal point for operations for advice on all Indirect Taxes for the LATAM region
  • Review and approve various Indirect Tax reconciliations prepared by your team
  • Resolves or escalate any queries or issues received.
  • Any other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting / Finance or equivalent.
  • ACCA/CIMA/CPA/CA or equivalent professional finance qualification
  • 3 - 5 years of working experience with South American taxes
  • 3 - 5 years team management experience
  • Possess strong analytical skills with proactive mind-set, with the ability to bring expert advice and problem solving skills to the team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent spoken and written both Spanish or Portuguese and English that enable effective working relationships with people from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds.
  • Other languages experience is added advantage
  • A proven ability to work as part of multi-disciplinary teams and to build and maintain network within and outside Indirect Tax.
  • Possess positive thinking and attitude, professionalism, takes ownership of and accountability of the work product.
  • Self-starter with ability to work under minimum supervision and tight deadlines.
  • Some experience in technology enabled business transformation projects is required.
  • Ability to champion and implement process improvements.
  • Team-player and customer-centric attitude.
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office and computerized accounting software, knowledge in SAP or Oracle will be added advantage.
