APAC Strategy & Innovation Director

Job Summary:

The APAC Strategy and Innovation Director will be a part of the UPS APAC Strategy Development team. The Director will work closely with the Company’s senior management in developing and leading the innovation discipline, as well as managing a strategic partnership for APAC to include existing work streams and development of forward looking strategic opportunities. The incumbent will report directly to the Regional Vice President for Strategy.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Innovation

• Manage the innovation discipline and ecosystem which includes strategic direction, external collaborations, ideation pipeline and prioritization, and execution of prototyping team.
• Responsible for driving innovations communication strategy.
• Run Ideathon, upstarts and other idea generation efforts.
• Set strategic targets for the innovation function and manage to KPI’s
• Be the internal champion and voice of innovation for the Region driving our cultural transformation and UPS hero messaging.
• Prepare and deliver senior level communications on results and direction.

Strategy Executions and Development

• Manage a strategic UPS partnership and execute to existing work streams.
• Drive the strategic relationship and spirit of collaboration with the partnership.
• Leverage creative and design thinking to develop new ideas with our partner that leverage our joint strengths and customer bases to include business
• Manage cross functional ecosystem of responsible parties to collaborate on the work efforts.
• Critically assess and drive progress internally at UPS and externally with our partner.
• Prepare and deliver senior level communications on results and direction.

Job Requirements:

• Possess a minimum Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in International Business, Economics, Finance, Marketing related disciplines
• 8 to 10 years of experience that includes strategic business planning and development, business consulting and/or related experience. This would include some or all of these elements: strategy development, market landscaping, competitive analysis, opportunity evaluation, transaction structuring, due diligence, negotiation, integration planning and execution.
• Experience in multi-modal logistics industry, investment bank, management or transactional consulting firm, or a similar background in a strategic growth / inorganic growth environment. Previous experience in post-acquisition business integration will be valued.
• Experience in innovation efforts to potentially include work with startups or design teams or new product development background.
• Financial and commercial acumen to evaluate opportunities and build compelling business cases to align to the Company’s long range plans.
• Strong project and organization skills to manage project lifecycles across functions and geography from planning to execution to achieve milestones within expected timelines.
• Have or develop good understanding of evolving market trends, customers, competitive and technology development of the industry both regionally and globally.
• Working knowledge in market research, financial modelling, scenario planning, design thinking
• Possess good quantitative and qualitative assessment skills.
• Must be proficient in financial analysis, modelling and scenario analysis.
• Strong written and oral communications skills, ability to articulate and convey complex information, including presentations to senior management.
• Collaborate well across geographical business units as well as cross functional units and ability to achieve results through influencing and communicating effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Critical thinker, creative, highly motivated and has a breath of historical perspective.
• With high stress tolerance and can adapt to dynamically changing environment.
