Job Title: Management AccountantSite: Markham ValeCore Hours: 08.30am - 17.00pmCore Days: Monday - Friday. However due to the nature of the role you will be expected to adopt a flexible approach to your working hours.The Role:An exciting opportunity to join our new flagship 500,000sq.ft Distribution Centre that is due to open early in 2017. A complex operation delivering high levels of service for a brand market leader, as the successful candidate you will contribute to the overall success of our site, you will report directly to the site Finance Manager (based on site). You will be responsible for the production of weekly and monthly Management Accounts for a number of site P&Ls. Working closely with operational teams, you will analyse the performance of the P&L, prepare budgets, forecasts and support in customer meetings.What we do:* Great Bear is a leading 3PL UK logistics business providing nationwide dedicated and shared user warehousing and distribution solutions for international blue chip clients.* Managing over 6 million sq ft of warehousing and operating over 300 commercial vehicles, Great Bear has built a reputation within the industry as a modern and innovative operator.Business Growth:* Great Bear was founded in 1994 and has enjoyed over 22 years of continuous growth.* Turnover for 2015 exceeded £153m, profitable with industry leading margins.* Now part of the Culina Group, further significant future growth is forecasted due to a number of exciting opportunities with the expanded ambient division.Key Responsibilities:This role is a fantastic opportunity for a recently qualified (ACCA/CIMA) candidate who will be responsible for the management accounting of operational profit centres across the Company with combined turnover of c£17m. The key responsibilities for this role will include:* Manage the weekly production of costings for several profit centres within the site* Submit weekly costings and KPI information to Customers and Head Office* Produce monthly management accounts for all profit centres* Investigate and explain variances in the management accounts* Produce monthly review pack of financial and operational management information for discussion with customers at review meetings* Produce annual budgets and periodic reforecasts for all profit centres* Invoice and credit control customers and update Company cash forecast* Deal with site suppliers including self-billing subcontract hauliers on a weekly basis* Numerous ad-hoc reports and project tasks as required (from the Site General Manager / Commercial Accounting Manager)This list is not exhaustive and the successful position holder may be required to carry out any task which the Company might reasonably require you to do.Transferrable Skills:* Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).* Attention to detail and analytical approach.* Experienced in accounts preparation, including journals, accruals, prepayments, depreciation and income deferral.* Questioning and enquiring approach with a real desire to seek out new methods that will allow more efficient provision of accurate financial data.* Comfortable working individually and as part of a team, sharing knowledge and improvement ideas for the benefit of the Company and its staff.* Hard working and flexible, with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.* Good communicator at all levels up to and including Operational Managers and Directors, customers, suppliers and other internal staff.* Expert in using IT, including Microsoft Office.* Ability to coach and mentor at different levels within the Company, to provide an understanding of finance to non -finance staff.* Willingness to learn about the Company and industry with a desire to excel and develop.
