Role – Finance Controller/supervisor

To build on our success to date we wish to instigate an increased level of financial management incorporating improved control; analysis; reporting and strategic direction.
The successful individual will oversee a small finance team and will have full responsibility for all financial activities.
Crucially this position requires a high level of analytical abilities which will support the companies' management decisions. This includes a comprehensive analysis of numerous aspects of the companies' costings, performance and profits with analysis by the market; geography; office, staff etc. Regular budgeting, cost–control; debt management and cash flow forecasting are also essential.
In addition, the appointee must be prepared to be a hands–on practitioner in all aspects of the day–to–day book–keeping' banking, payroll and accountancy tasks with a small finance team under him/her.
The responsibilities of the – Finance controller / Supervisor

Preparation of Management Accounts including Variance Analysis, Cash Flows, Budgets' Debtor analysis etc
Reconciliations and oversight of Banking, Sales & Purchase ledgers
Calculation of labor costs from time–sheets leading to costings by activity and profit assessment by event market/office etc.
Reconcile inter–company transfers and charges
VAT returns and other sales taxes, GST etc worldwide.
Support in the creation of event budgets and control and monitoring of expenditures.
Monitoring all aspects of company sales, invoicing and income performance
Compiling UK and International accounting data for submission to and liaison with our accountants.
Producing data in both a concise and comprehensive form to support strategic management decisions.
Responsibility for company insurance; office leases etc.
What were looking for from a – Finance Controller / Supervisor

The successful Candidate must have either Construction/engineering or manufacturing industry knowledge

We are looking for an ambitious, self–motivated and highly competent person who can bring a wide range of skills to the role. Good management skills are required together with excellent communication skills with other staff, customers and suppliers.
The successful candidate must have at least 5 years of accountancy experience and must have held a senior role for a substantial part of that time. This must include managing staff over a wide range of financial functions.
A detailed understanding and comprehensive abilities are required with key software such as Sage, Excel etc. This must include the knowledge and willingness to personally carry out routine book–keeping tasks and to manage and train other finance staff in this software. Experience must also exist in the use of sophisticated features within such tools and a generally high level of competence with modern technology.
The successful Finance Controller / Supervisor must have

Management level experience in a similar size company (typically GBP3m to GBP20m turnover range)
Qualified to ACCA or ACA or CIMA qualification
Qualified to Institute of financial accountants (IFA)
Extensive experience of using accountancy packages (ideally Xero)
Strong Excel skills and the ability to present data to non–finance persons in graphical and other formats.
Excellent numeracy skills.
Strong financial analytical capabilities and fully able to prepare cash flow; P&L analyses; debtor analyses etc.
Order to provide top–level strategic support.
Ability to manage a small finance team responsible for all book–keeping, invoicing, payments; debt–chasing etc
Business acumen to be part of the senior management team and assist with strategic decision making.
