Accounting Manager, Travel and Expense KPMG in Jamaica seeks to identify a Accounting Manager who will be responsible for leading and directing a team of investigative and compliance accounting personnel. The position has primary responsibility for conducting audits on expense claims based on expenditure patterns and ensuring that expense claims comply with internal policy guidelines. The position will be assigned to our rapidly growing KPMG Jamaica Extended Support Services (JESS) which provides services to a major client in the United States. Profile The successful candidate should possess strong project and people management experience along with advanced accounting or auditing experience. Specifically, the candidate should demonstrate: • strong technical and supervisory skills to lead a department of up to 20 resources performing various accounting and reconciliations activities and support their professional development; • the ability to identify and implement improvements in collaboration with key stakeholders; • advanced experience with travel and expense processes and systems • proven people management skills. • the ability to exercise professional skepticism and provide critical insights; and • strong analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills. Core functions Reporting directly to the JESS Senior Operations Manager, the Accounting Manager will supervise the Travel and Expense unit to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with established policies and procedures. Core job responsibilities will be to: • direct, evaluate and plan in collaboration with key stakeholders all activities within the JESS Travel and Expense department; • perform quality assurance reviews of deliverables and ensures that it meets client's expectations and timelines • monitor, analyse and assess the performance of the department and recommends and develops procedures or processes to improve efficiency and product quality delivery by the team; • prepare and deliver special and complex reports on performance analysis of the department against contractual parameters and company standards; and • provide leadership, train, coach and develop assigned personnel including setting performance criteria and conducting performance appraisals. Professional qualification The successful candidate should possess: • a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent professional accreditation; and • a minimum of seven years progressive accounting experience, with at least five years in a people management capacity .
