A leading and growing firm of chartered accountants, based in Bristol has a requirement for an experienced Accounts Senior and MTD / Online Accounting Specialist to join their team as a key hire. In this mixed role, you will take on delivery of accounts preparation and wider services alongside developing a department to assist clients on the forthcoming MTD changes, e.g. offering software advice and implementation assistance.

Client Details

Based in professional presented offices in Bristol, the team has around 35 - 40 staff headed by a team of directors, long serving Senior Managerial and managerial support team and wider accounting team of qualified professionals, part qualified and trainee ACCA/ACAs, ATT, ATT etc and payroll/admin staff. The office environment is very team orientated with a culture of all round involvement and autonomy to develop client relationships and to take on responsibility and pursue areas of interest. The firms working environment allows a lot of responsibility and management of jobs and client contact, from start to finish for their more junior team members as they develop within the firm, whilst having the support of a managerial team and directors. The firm has grown organically and through successful merger. As an overview, whilst with very varied clients across sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, the business has a lean and focus perhaps with OMB clients, from one man contractors to £60million turnover clients - Perhaps a core from £500k to several £million turnover across a wide range of industries - the firm has a decent proportion of audit clients as well with trading companies, OMBs and a number of charities.


Joining as an Accounts Senior and MTD / Online Accounting Specialist, based in the firms Bristol offices, you will carve a key role here within this team and business in a mixed role, offering increasing responsibility and career development prospects. The team is growing and they require the right experienced professional to join them in a mixed role over time, with an element of accounts preparation, with other general accountancy practice responsibilities alongside this. As you develop in the firm and role, whilst hands on initially, scope is likely to develop taking on development of juniors, reviewing and managing in addition. In addition they are looking to create a separate department to assist smaller clients on the forthcoming MTD changes, assisting them in Xero/other online accounting software changes and implementations, setting up this facility to work with their clients and develop this side of the business, so an element of your role will encompass leading and developing this side of the business as well. You will develop and progress in your career within this growing firm.


You may be AAT qualified, and/or part qualified/finalist/ recently qualified ACCA/ACA. Most importantly you will have developed a career background preparing accounts and delivering other wide ranging, general accountancy practice services to a mixed client base of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. You will have experience gained within any accountancy firm size and environment and be seeking a career move within the profession where you can develop and progress within your career. Alongside this, ideally you will bring demonstrable online accounting software skills across any of Xero, Quickbooks, SAGE 1 etc with the ability to advise and help clients on this side.

Job Offer

£25,000 - circa £35,000 dependent on experience, background and level, negotiable plus benefits.
