PB's proactively manage a portfolio of 50-200 Private Banking high net worth clients, providing support and investment advice on a broad range of financial matters. PB's will develop deep relationships with clients to enable them to be able to support client's Wealth Structuring needs, utilizing specialists both internal and external where appropriate.

As a figurehead for Private Banking in their given region, PB's will be responsible for promoting the business both internally and externally. Internal engagement will be through Retail and SCCB channels. Externally they will maintain relationships with key professionals in their region for mutual benefit. Through this business development work PB's are expected to secure new to bank clients to build their portfolios in line with the growth strategies for their region.

Operating on a regional basis and mobile to suit their client's needs, PB's will exceed client's expectations through quality and timeliness of service and providing an excellent client experience. PB's will maximise retention of existing clients and their holdings, and develop these into primary banking relationships and thereby grow the value of the portfolio.

As a Private Banker your main responsibilities will be
  • Achieving net portfolio growth, in a balanced fashion and in line with approved commercial agenda
  • Ensuring suitably focused activity to deliver individual commercial plan and an exceptional client experience
  • Identifying, understanding and helping clients by competently and effectively dealing with their changing needs
  • Engaging effectively with sophisticated, complex, high net worth clients and showing a deep understanding of wider financial affairs and financial products held beyond Santander to ensure dialogue with client is comprehensive and client focused
  • Maintaining up to date and compliant records to ensure relevant internal standards and external regulatory requirements are observed - including all Quality Assurance and Manager file checks, observed interviews etc.


Minimum skills and experience required
  • RDR level 4 qualification. (CISI or CII) and currently providing financial advice (If not already obtained, to be prepared to study towards RDR level 6 Chartered status for advice)
  • Investment knowledge, investment advice authorised, risk management & control experience is essential
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Wealth structuring tools, investment approaches and application of these with High Net Worth clients
  • A good knowledge and understanding of wider financial markets, with exposure to the full range of banking products and financial planning industry
