A part-qualified Trainee Accountant is sought by a manufacturing organisation specialising in carpeting prime residences, iconic buildings of national and historic interest as well as many of the world’s leading luxury hotels, cruise ships, gaming and leisure venues.
This role would suit a recent graduate with some commercial experience in an Accounts Assistant role or similar, who is looking to make the step up into a Financial Accountant position.
The Role:
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, as the Trainee Accountant you will support the business in controlling costs and reporting accuracy by coding and extracting information as well as providing comparisons on costs and income.
You will assist and control the financial ledgers up to Trial Balance stage, prepare accounting transactions and reconciliations to compile the Monthly and Statutory Financial Accounts. Make and record transactions, process documents for goods and services received, prepare ledger balances and reconcile and control nominal accounts.
Your day to day duties will include:
* Producing Year End accounting information
* Producing Monthly Management Accounting information
* Preparation of Accruals
* Preparation of Prepayments
* Stock and GRNI reconciliations
* Inter Company Account monthly reconciliations
* Reconciliation of Balance Sheet and P&L accounts in the Financial Ledgers
* Currency account reconciliations and FX journal preparation
* Liaising with other internal departments
* VAT and Intrastat preparation.
* Preparation of National Statistics returns
* Processing and summarising Certify Expenses
* Communicating with overseas Subsidiary Financial Controllers
* Providing support and assistance to the Finance Management team
* Providing cover and assistance to Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger and Treasury functions
The successful Trainee Accountant will demonstrate:
* Part-qualified in a relevant accounting qualification, ideally ACCA
* Previous experience in an Accountant or Accounts Assistant role within a commercial environment
* AAT qualified would be beneficial
* Degree educated in Accounting & Finance would be beneficial
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Self-motivated and ability to work on own initiative
* Ability to organise and prioritise workloads
