Willis Towers Watson is currently seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our dedicated and experienced Finance team in Sydney.
The Role
Reporting to the CFO, this Financial Controller role encompasses the following main responsibilities:
Overseeing and coordinating the activities of the finance team in Sydney, Melbourne and Manila;
Month end reporting including profit and loss, balance sheet and ad hoc reporting;
Managing annual statutory reporting requirements for various Australian entities;
Contributing to the monthly forecasting process;
Management of the Treasury function including liaison with regional stakeholders partners;
Responsible for the company's taxation requirements;
Liaison with internal and external auditors;
Supporting the CFO with new investment proposals;
Partnering with the Operations teams to improve business efficiency and ensure compliance with relevant accounting/company policies and procedures; and
Other responsibilities assigned to the Financial Controller include accounts payable & receivable, insurance & compliance policies and capital expenditure.
The Requirements
Candidates will ideally have experience in a multinational organisation within the insurance or financial services industry; however, we will consider strong candidates from other industries. Given that this is a commercial role at a senior level, it will require people leader responsibilities and an interaction with the business across all levels; as such it is essential that all applicants have outstanding communication skills.
Other key skills include:
Qualified with the Institute of Chartered Accountants or CPA Australia;
Strong technical skill-set, a high attention to detail and strong statutory reporting skills;
Proven experience managing and motivating a team, including coaching and supervision duties;
Advanced Excel skills;
Ability to develop and maintain co-operative working relationships; and
A good working knowledge of financial software.
