The main objective of this role is to fill the gap between the Chief Accountant and the other staff in the department (supervisory role) and overseeing the general operations of the Finance department.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist in ensuring that the general functions of the accounts department are run smoothly
  2. Assist the Chief Account in the preparation and collection of accurate data for Budget preparation.
  3. Ensure daily reconciliation and correction of reception receipts. Banking is done daily and proof of banking is ensured.
  4. Ensure reconciliation of Green fees receipted and the guests signed in while ensuring that they are charged the appropriate rates application.
  5. Reconciliation of Gym Attendance and billings to avoid revenue leakage.
  6. Ensure that all entries to member accounts are posted every month and statements are sent out in time (Including back office entries like Surcharge, Minimum Expenditure, monthly lottery).
  7. Ensure correctness of entries passed by other staff in the department to avoid mis-postings.
  8. Ensure complete and accurate entries by the Kitchen departments. All event orders for functions are prepared and forwarded to accounts for billing and accounting for income.
  9. Assist in ensuring that other departments pass all entries for usage and post to the correct cost centers.
  10. Assist in the timely preparation of the end of year audit.
  11. Ensure that the guest cards refunds are properly documented and the refunds forwarded to the guests via MPESA
  12. Ensure that all fixed assets procured are tagged and posted correctly in the books.
  13. Ensure that all licenses are paid for and renewed in time.
  14. Assist in checking the accuracy of the entries in the general ledger by the team.
  15. Ensure that the Suppliers' statements are reconciled to the Club's statements.
  16. Ensure that the Suppliers are paid in time as per Club policy to avoid derailing of services.
  17. Ensure that both the Captain and Lady Captains kitty accounts are finalized and forwarded to the Captains for their monthly meetings.

Academic, Professional qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Finance/Accounting
  • CPA(K)
  • Must have at least 2 years' experience in a Supervisory Accounting position preferably in a hospitality industry
  • Experience working with SAGE ERP is a MUST.
