Management Accountant

Becoming a Management Accountant with Capita/Transport for London

Working within the Finance team you will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Finance Manager to deliver financial control and management of several cost centres across a prestigious and complex service contract.

What you will do:

• Support the Finance Manager to ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly management accounts.
• Assist and support the Finance Manager in partnering with the business leads to review and challenge financial performance, cost control, forecasts and business/budget planning.
• Control and administrate the billing process to ensure that invoices are raised in a timely manner in adherence to the provisions of the contract.
• Reconciliation and management of all accruals, pre-payments, provisions and deferred income.
• Liaising with Group Accounts Payable team to respond to and manage AP queries.
• Reconciliation of payroll costs and comparisons to forecast and business plan down to cost centre level.
• Maintain control over all balance sheet accounts and ensure regular reconciliations are performed and support/back-up is available for all material balances.
• Management of Working capital.
• Support year-end processes and external audit queries.
• Promote strong financial control across the business.
• Monthly Financial Analysis - produce variance analysis that is meaningful, robust and useful to internal stakeholders.
• Raise and control purchase orders and reconcile these to the financial forecast.
• Provide support for new business bid opportunities where required.
• Assist the Finance team in streamlining and improving existing processes and designing new reports and models where necessary.
• Assist with ad-hoc divisional and group reporting queries / requests for information

Your Experience will include;

• Part qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA Accountant or equivalent along with good academics.
• Excellent IT skills including strong proficiency in MS Excel (Pivot tables, V-lookups, SUM IF's etc.)
• Previous experience of working within a Finance/Accounting environment.
• Great attention to detail and accuracy.
• Pro-active and forward thinking in nature - ability to show creativity and apply problem solving skills to issues.
• Ability to work both under own initiative and also within a team based environment.
• Ability to work under pressure, work to tight deadlines with no detriment to the high quality standards expected.
• Requires little direction, highly motivated, demonstrates initiative and is proactive in their approach to the business.
• Flexible approach to work, adapts easily to change and ability to learn quickly.
• Committed, trust worthy and responsible.
• Analytical approach ensuring confident decisions are made in line with finance legislation.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience of working with SAP.
• Previous experience of working with Reporting/Forecasting tools - e.g. Axiom, Hyperion, TM1
• Knowledge of or experience of working with IFRS15 accounting standards.
