Financial Accountant - 6 month contract

Working as an integral part of our small dynamic team, this role's primary responsibility is for the accurate reporting of business transactions and information that will facilitate planning decisions for the organisation. You will also complete the end to end process of reconciliation of all finance information from the group through to the preparation of the monthly/yearly management reports. This is an autonomous role and will suit someone who is a self-motivated and has the ability to manage tasks and priorities accordingly.

Accountability:

Core Activities:

Month/Year end financial reporting
  • Support month-end and year-end close process.
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
  • Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
  • Ensure all Balance Sheet reconciliations are completed monthly with all major balances substantiated with appropriate work papers and support.
  • Weekly cash flow reporting.

Tax compliance
  • Ensure group is up to date with BAS/Payroll tax/FBT and PAYG commitments.

Payroll
  • Managing monthly payroll process.

AP/AR
  • Perform AP/AR function to ensure all payments and receipts are completed in a timely fashion. Manage aging of same to help with working capital requirements.
  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.

Audit
  • To assist Senior Financial Accountant and Financial Controller in providing required documentation for external audits.

Continuous Improvement
  • Always have mind set of challenging current norms and question why we do things the way we do. Can we improve on what we are currently doing?
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

The Successful Applicant
  • CA /ACCA/CPA qualified
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an accounting role.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like Xero, MYOB, Data Dear, Fathom etc.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Financial services experience an added advantage.
