Within Bank of Ireland, Group Risk Assurance provides independent assurance on the management of Conduct of Business, Financial Crime and Prudential compliance risks. It does this by developing and delivering a risk-based assurance plan and reporting outcomes and conclusions to senior stakeholders within the Group.

The team has a Group-wide remit, and maintains close links with other second line assurance providers, first line risk management support teams and Group Internal Audit.

Purpose of the Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, executing and reporting of a wide range of risk based conduct and compliance risk assurance reviews.

Key Accountabilities

The key deliverables for this role are:

  • Planning and delivering an approved schedule of compliance risk assurance reviews
  • Proactively contributing to the maintenance and development of best in class assurance techniques and ways of working.
  • Developing and maintaining advanced competency in relation to key Conduct, Financial Crime and Prudential regulatory obligations.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships across the Group, in particular with first line risk support teams, second line of defence SME's, and other assurance providers across the second and third lines.

What is the opportunity?

The successful applicant will lead a broad range of compliance risk assurance reviews across the Group, making a strong contribution to the delivery of the approved Group Risk Assurance plan for the year. Through this, there will be many opportunities to learn and grow, gaining valuable insights into a wide range of business units and building a strong network in the process.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants should either hold a relevant qualification (eg ACOI Professional Diploma in Compliance, Institute of Internal Auditing, Financial/ Management Accounting) or, with appropriate experience, be willing to commit to attaining the qualification within 2 years of commencing the role.

Essential Skills & Experience

Applicants should be able to demonstrate relevant experience, including:

  • At least three years working in a risk management/ assurance area.
  • Strong inter-personal skills and ability to manage interactions with senior stakeholders.
  • Professional judgement needed to arrive at (and stand over) evidence based opinions and to document remediation actions which are clear and comprehensible.
  • Proven record delivering to challenging deadlines without compromising quality.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • A goodunderstanding of first-line businesses in the financial services industry;
  • A working knowledge of a wide range of regulatory risk obligations;
  • Experience leading and delivering assurance reviews;
  • A strong understanding of a Regulatory Risk Framework, organisation, processes, products and systems
