ACCOUNTING MANAGER, FIRMWIDE COSTS (JESS) OVERVIEW: KPMG in Jamaica seeks to identify an Accounting Manager for Firmwide Costs that will be responsible for people managing several direct reports, overseeing a team of approximately 16 members, aligned client's Process Controller and Accounting Operations processes, such as: General Ledger Account Analysis and Reconciliations, Preparing and Processing Journal Entries, Inter and Intra Firm Billings, and preparation of monthly Financial Statements. The position will be assigned to our rapidly growing KPMG Jamaica Expanded Support Services (JESS), which provides services to a major client in the United States. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Plans, oversees, directs, and evaluates all activities within the Firmwide Costs team while working closely with all onshore and offshore resources Provides leadership to FWC team leads, and the entire Firmwide Cost team Lead the efforts to continuously improve accounting analysis and reporting with automation and procedural enhancements Responsible for overseeing more complex activities associated with analysis and reporting Constant interaction with onshore management team Exercises independent judgment in creating and selecting ways to complete work assignments Applies knowledge, independent judgment and Client's policies to oversee complex accounting or finance related job responsibilities and assignments. Oversees and reviews work of a technical or analytical nature, requiring special skills, training and related experience. Analyzes and addresses issues by evaluating different alternatives within a wide variety of established procedures and provides solutions to the issues; decisions are subject to review by higher levels of management both onshore and offshore Reviews special complex reports and analyses Oversees effort to meet deadlines while maintaining quality Assist with review of more complex Journal Entries Insure adequate support for posted journal entries is maintained Manage escalations KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and COMPETENCIES: Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited college or university required or considered professional accreditation Minimum of seven years of progressive accounting experience, including a hands-on supervisory role Ability to guide and train staff regarding account processes and procedures Advanced knowledge of managerial accounting Technical Working knowledge of SAP General Ledger Module preferred Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (v-lookup, pivot tables, etc.) Ability to train staff on all technical skills (e.g. SAP, Advanced Excel) Advanced knowledge and use of office productivity tools (MS Office, etc.) Ability to learn and use of other business information systems Exercises independent judgment in creating and selecting ways to complete work assignments Ability to understand process risks and issues, and provide critical insights Interpersonal Capable of being entrusted with "confidential" information Ability to build productive working relationships with stakeholders and team members Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing as well as the ability to actively participate in phone calls and Skype meetings Ability to generate team cooperation Ability to be flexible with job duties and scope of work Leadership Ability to manage the FWC Support team and provide guidance to all team members Ability to coach and motivate team members to optimize team effectiveness and enhance team interactions Ability to hold team members accountable for the achievement of established customer satisfaction levels Ability to identify and implement improvement in collaboration with Client's stakeholders and JESS team Ability to impact team morale, culture, and participation
