Senior Business Analyst – Trading
Reports to: Head of Trading and Category Management
Hours: Full–time/Permanent
Location: Scunthorpe based
Salary: Up to GBP55k

We are now looking for a Senior Business Analyst (trading) – a Qualified accountant to support on Trading performance. Key deliveries would be significantly better understanding all the levers that affect the trading functions performance, push hard to implement changes to improve performance within categories and lead our analysis on price and promotions.

Key Result Areas:
* Reporting to executive management on a wide range of areas including but not restricted to: Price position, Promotional effectiveness, Category and Member profitability and Own Brand performance.
* Providing insight and high quality commentary for executive management and the buying teams
* Communicate clearly to all stakeholders
* Lead projects including to:
o Understand the key drivers of the trading function and work to improve reporting and business behaviours.
o Review internal processes and suggest, agree and implement improvements
o Implement and monitor a pricing policy to guide buyer decision making

Job Knowledge:
* Good knowledge of retail business operations
* Experience at middle management level in Accounting.
* Exceptional Excel skills.
* Good overall IT skills and systems knowledge.

Specific Areas of work:
* Reporting to executive management
o Preparing weekly sales, profit and promotional performance reports
o Preparing periodic reports on pricing, category performance and member performance
o Preparing quarterly reports for in depth reviews
* Providing insight and high quality commentary for executive management and the buying teams
o Quick commentary on the weekly trading performance
o More detailed commentaries on the promotional and category performance.
o Providing clear guidance to the retail teams as to key areas of focus
o Contribute to the better understanding of our trading performance, the key drivers and what actions might be taken to improve
* To manage the implementation of a Pricing policy for the trading team to adhere to:
o Feed into the development of a pricing policy to be introduced across the trading function.
o Manage weekly reporting of price position and challenge any non– conformance.
* Lead projects:
o Review internal processes and suggest, agree and implement improvements
* Communicate clearly
o Contribute to the management of the trading support function.
o Proactive building of relationships with buying and retail teams
o Safe pair of hands under pressure

Job Skills and Competencies:
* Qualified Accountant by relevant qualification (ACCA or equivalent) (or by experience)
* Good technical, database and numeracy skills.
* Good interpersonal skills to organise the department to meet with tight deadlines.
* Ability to communicate at all levels.
* Ability to delegate where necessary.
* Ability to maintain and develop relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
