Title: Assistant Accountant My client is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join an exciting and busy finance team. About the role: The Accounts Assistant will report into and support the Financial Accountant. The person will be a self-starter with an ambitious attitude and desire to learn. Must have your own transport. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure in a range of areas including assisting in the preparation of the monthly management accounts and forecasts (analysis of accounts, journal postings, balance sheet reconciliations and other month end processing). There is a competitive salary and scope to progress within the company. Main Responsibilities: Preparation of weekly Accounts for review Preparation of Monthly and Annual Accounts for review Preparation of forecasts (four week and annual) for review Prepare Weekly Payroll Reconciliation for review Prepare Weekly Reconciliation of Accounts to KPI data Prepare weekly Accommodation Direct debit file for review Prepare reconciliation of Accommodation records for review Assist FA with the preparation of annual budgets Assist with Year-end Audit Month End Accruals and Reconciliation for Review Run Weekly reports as required Assist with coding supplier invoices and assist with ensuring payment of critical suppliers on time Assist FA with processing and monitoring of capex expenditure and maintaining fixed asset register Assist with implementing pre-season procedures and process improvements Assist with annual budgeting process Provide support to the FA with the annual R&D claim Prepare PO report on costs for Review Preparation of royalty returns to third parties. Preparation of grant claims Assistance with annual R&D Tax credit Claim Support FA with both complex and basic tasks as required Support the Finance team accounts payable function when required Any other ad hoc duties as deemed appropriate by the management team Contribute to continuous improvement of reporting processes in the finance team Experience and qualifications: Part qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant essential At least 2 year’s previous experience in a busy accounts office environment is required Auditing background an advantage but not essential Advanced Excel is essential (sumifs, vlookups, pivots etc) Have worked with complex FMCG accounts an advantage Excellent communication skills Ability to work on own initiative, problem solve and work as part of a team Excellent planning & organisational skills Strong attention to detail A distinct ability to time manage effectively in order to meet strict deadlines Have a high level of personal integrity Experience of Sun accounts system would be an advantage but not essential Flexibility to work outside of normal hours to suit the requirements of the business and cover holidays when required
