Bioenergy Development Group is seeking an experienced and professional Senior Controller / Finance Manager to lead all accounting functions at its biodiesel manufacturing facilities in Memphis, TN. The Senior Controller / Finance Manager will play a key role in the Company's business plan strategy and long–term financial security. The Senior Controller / Finance Manager is responsible and oversee the operations of the Company's accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objective. The Senior Controller / Finance Manager directs financial and administrative function in accordance with Company policy and generally accepted accounting standards. The Senior Controller / Finance Manager reports to the Company Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and may receive guidance from the Company Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accounting operations of the Company include, periodic financial reports and the maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records
  • Develop a set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk that enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results
  • Enforce Company's compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Expect to review financial reports, monitor accounts, and activity reports and financial forecasts
  • Investigate ways to improve profitability
  • Analyze markets for business opportunities, such as expansion, mergers or acquisitions
  • Oversee and approve financial statements to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies
  • Follow–up with Controller to ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner, accounts receivable are collected promptly, periodic bank reconciliations are completed, and payroll is process in a timely manner
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report and timely and complete financial statements
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Provide for a system of management cost reports
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Manage compliance with all banking requirements
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Possess practical knowledge of BQ 9000 concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Understand Bioenergy Quality Policy and dedication to consistently and safely provide quality products that meets the needs of our customers
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, company policies and procedures including safety.
  • May serve on an Employee Safety (Involvement) Committee.

Qualifications

  • BS or BA in Accounting or relevant field require
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant
  • At least seven [7] to [10] years of corporate or operational accounting experience
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Strong Intermediate–to–Advanced Excel skills, particularly use of advanced formulas and Pivot Tables
  • Experience with general ledger and subsidiary ledger functions and the accounting close process
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g. NetSuite, J.D. Edwards, QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions, etc.)
  • Ability to meet and be independently accountable to assigned deadlines as well as manage competing priorities in a changing environment
  • Detail oriented, highly motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; able to solve practical problems
  • Excellent oral, written and overall communication skills

This is a full–time week day position. This role may be required to work evenings and weekends to support month–end and year–end financial closing. The Memphis manufacturing plant operates on a seven [7] day, twenty–four [24] hour schedule.
